Saudi Arabia has restructured the SWCC into the Saudi Water Authority (SWA) to boost water security. This transformation includes the adoption of a new organizational framework aimed at strengthening the regulation of water-related activities, optimizing regulations, improving service management, and facilitating the development of methodologies. The approval of the Saudi Cabinet will further strengthen water sustainability and advance the goals of the national Water strategy, closely aligned with the goals of Vision 2030.
The Saudi Water Authority will be responsible for developing and refining policies, programs, projects and initiatives in the water sector, establishing necessary standards and regulations, and harmonizing technical and engineering standards in the water sector to ensure compliance with local content and sustainability standards. In addition, the bureau will oversee strategic planning for the Kingdom's water supply, advancing reports, recommendations and strategic initiatives to improve the overall efficiency of the water industry.
The SWA will prioritize the localization of the water industry and services related to water activities, aiming to increase the proportion of local content.
JSG, as the predecessor of the Saudi Water Authority and a strategic partner of SWCC, will continue to cooperate and grow together with the upgraded Saudi Water Authority, leveraging SWA's advantages in water security and resource management to promote cooperation and development in the field of water resources. Through this partnership, JSG will be able to support Saudi Arabia in achieving its goals of water security and sustainable development.
